Mission Statement

The Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter strives to provide responsive, humane community animal control and to enforce local ordinances with the intent of preventing cruelty to animals; to make information promoting the positive health, care, and handling of companion and wildlife animals available to the surrounding community; to increase public awareness of companion animal overpopulation and promote spay/neuter; and to facilitate the successful re-homing of healthy, behaviorally sound companion animals with a pro-active adoption program and with the assistance of local animal rescue organizations. Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter strives at all times to maintain an animal shelter facility and associated procedures that promote the humane care and handling of animals, and to improve upon all areas of its operations whenever possible.
