Volunteer with JPAWS

Volunteering is a great way for you to support the Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services, and we appreciate all that our volunteers do for our community and its animals!

For additional information or if you have questions please email JPAWS directly at and they will have a staff member or volunteer reach out to you. If you would like to fill out a volunteer application with JPAWS, you can find that here.

There are lots of ways to help our pets:

  • General Cleaning

  • Grooming & Bathing

  • Walking & Socializing with pets

  • Events/Adoption Events

  • Transporting Animals

  • Fostering

  • And more!

Volunteers age 11-15 years old must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times while volunteering. This parent/guardian must also complete volunteer training.

The JPAWS volunteer program does not give credit for court ordered community service hours. If this is what you need, please call the shelter for information. West Bank (504) 349-5111.

The Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services (JPAWS) is an entity of Jefferson Parish government.
