Teen Programs & Service Learning
Teens can make a PAW-sitive difference in the lives of homeless animals and the Jefferson SPCA wants to invite you to join our mission. We offer various fun ways for teens to earn Service Learning Hours for school.
Student Donation Drive for Service Hours
Any student is welcome to do a donation drive to earn service hours. Please see the Student Donation Drive Packet for more information.
Teen (Service) Learning Club
Our T.L.C meets 6 times over several months. Twice monthly, teens will meet at the JPAS East Bank location (1 Humane Way, Harahan, LA 70123) from 9am-noon and earn Service Hours through animal related work, direct hands on animal care, and shelter projects. This is a structured program, each meeting building on the last, so it is beneficial to be able to attend all meetings. Our Fall TLC (Teen Learning Club) dates are: 10/12, 10/19, 11/9, 11/16, 12/14,12/21. There is a $30 session fee that includes a t shirt. Your teen will be able to accumulate 18 service hours during a 6 week session. We will also offer a winter and spring session. Register HERE.
Contact Renee at email@example.com or 410 409-4817 with any questions.
Teen Education Junior Counselor
Teens aged 15-17 can also earn service hours by assisting with our kids programs, including our camps, birthday parties, and special events. Most of the opportunities are on weekends, and on days in which Jefferson Parish public schools are out. Junior Counselors MUST be friendly and outgoing, and MUST enjoy interacting with children. Activities Junior Counselors might assist with include: helping to facilitate games, crafts, and other activities, animal handling, and set-up and break down of events. There is a $30 annual membership fee that includes a t-shirt.
Prospective Junior Counselors must contact our education coordinator, Renee at firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
