About 25% of shelter dogs are purebred. The rest make up the best selection anywhere of unique, one-of-a-kind mixed breeds, many of whom have already lived with families and have the basic social skills they need to become an enjoyable part of your household.

The Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services (formerly Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter) in over 10,000 animals per year. An adoption fee of $67 includes spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, rabies license and tag, microchip, and a heartworm test/FeLV/FIV test, a $400 value (excluding special events where the price is even lower).
