If you are looking to report animal cruelty, an animal attack or report a stray dog, you must call the Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services - Animal Control Department at 504-349-5536. After hours please call 504-554-4744. Email: jpaws@jeffparish.net.
 
Stray cats are not typically picked up by animal control since there are no leash laws on cats and Jefferson Parish has a Community Cat Program. If the cat is injured, you can call Animal Control to help pick it up. If you're on Facebook, you can join the group JP Community Cats to ask a volunteer cat trapper to come help trap the cats, get them spayed/neutered and then they will be returned after surgery to the location they were trapped as outlined in Jefferson Parish Ordinance Section 7-20.
 
The Jefferson SPCA is a remote based charity partner to the Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services and NOT physically located in the shelter.
