Athena Fund
The Athena Fund was named in honor of Athena, a Pitbull dog who came into the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter severely neglected, malnourished, and heartworm positive. When pictures of her condition reached social media, it sparked an outpouring of support and inspired us to create a fund specifically to help other animals like her.
Athena came into the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter close to death. She had been starved and neglected – physically and mentally. She was also heartworm positive. She was brought to the emergency vet clinic where she received not only excellent medical care; she found her foster home – which turned into her perfect permanent home.
This happy ending would not have been possible without the generosity of our Facebook followers. All funds collected to date were dedicated to the health and well-being of Athena. Now that Athena is happy and healthy, the Jefferson SPCA has determined that the remaining funds will be dedicated to helping other abused, sick and/or heartworm positive animals that find themselves in the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter in search of a better life. We will do everything we can to make sure as many of them as possible have the same happy ending as Athena.
When you donate to the Athena Healing Fund, your contribution will go to rehabilitating an animal in need of intensive support and care, that wouldn’t have a chance without you.

Instead of taking them to the blog, if there aren't too many stories, maybe they should be here on this page instead of taking them to the blog??
