Fix-A-Feline is a Spay/Neuter Program funded by Jefferson Parish Annual Rabies Licenses. The ultimate goal is to reduce the number of cats & kittens that enter our two Jefferson Parish Animal Shelters. Cats account for half of the pets taken in at Jefferson Parish Animal Shelters. Since inception our Spay/Neuter program, our participating clinics have performed over 100,000 surgeries on pets in Jefferson Parish. To participate in the Fix-A-Feline program, you must be a resident of Jefferson Parish (a form of I.D. is required) or a caretaker/trapper of cats/kittens in Jefferson Parish. Contact any of the participating veterinary clinics below and make an appointment mentioning the Fix-A-Feline Program.

 

The visit is FREE for feral/stray cats in a trap includes rabies vaccine (they will be eartipped) and $15 for an owned pet kitten/cat. They will have a voucher at the clinic certifying that you are a resident of Jefferson Parish or certifying that you are caretaker/trapper of the kitten/cat. Kittens can usually be spayed/neutered at 2 pounds of weight depending on the preference of the veterinarian performing the surgery. Indoor kittens can reach 2lbs between 8-12 weeks and community/outdoor kittens reach 2lbs between 12-16 weeks. Just be sure to ask the vet when making the appointment how much the kitten needs to weigh for surgery.
